Cardio on Campus

Back to school now after what was hopefully a good summer of healthy choices and long workouts. More than likely though, it’s probably back to school after a summer of chasing girls and partying with your friends. It was probably worth it, but that being said, it’s probably worth it as well to get your body back in shape. Most of your days will be spent on campus now though, so you might be scrambling for new ways to get it done, and get it done fast.

A lot of people don’t realize that most campuses these days have pretty great workout facilities that can be used by the general student body. It may take some time to figure out where they are at and how to squeeze in some time between American History and English, but even if it’s only for a moment here and there, any time in the gym is good time for your body. Pump out some quick curl sets or benches and your metabolism will increase, your strength will improve, and the ladies will love you for it. Job number one is to find the gym on campus, job number two is to get your butt there, and job number three is to clean up before you’re done…nobody likes to sit next to that guy in class who smells like last night’s gym socks.

If it’s feasible, walk to campus. The extra time on the pavement will kill hundreds of calories without you even having to work for it. While you’re walking, eat a whey protein energy bar. The benefits of whey protein have been known for a long time now, but not everyone is benefiting. The attributes of whey protein allow for faster recovery times and increased strength from your workouts. Don’t be a snacker though, make sure you’re eating right as you walk, drinking a lot of water, and you might as well be getting your daily allowances as you do it. Take a multivitamin before you go and you’ll be set for the day on your vitamin and mineral intake, a great way to jumpstart your metabolism and get your day started right. Walking to campus can be awesome (lots of ladies to check out on the way), but make sure you do it with the right supplement.

Get out of the classroom as quickly as you can. You’ll love this advice. I think it’s important to get outside as fast as you can so you can be moving around, checking out the scenery, being seen, and burning calories as you do it. Again, a multivitamin will help, the whey protein would be awesome, and munching on essential fatty acids is a great idea as you do it, but getting on your feet is imperative. I know it’s not really working out per se, but if you’re walking around the grassy knoll between classes, there are benefits and potential advantages I can’t number.

Campus time doesn’t have to all be sedentary time. Walking is very important, but eating right while you do it will show up in the gym too. Take a multivitamin just to cover your bases and down some whey protein so your body is healthy and strong, and I promise you the response you get will be well worth the effort.
